Ground turmeric (Curcuma longa) milled from cured, polished fingers of the Erode, Salem and Alleppey types — specified on curcumin, lead, ethylene oxide and Sudan dyes, because those are the four results that decide whether a lot clears customs and your QA desk in the US, UK, Ireland and the EU.
Curcumin is assayed by spectrophotometry (ASTA 18.0) on every lot and printed on the COA.
Turmeric is one of the most tested spices at EU and UK borders. We run the tests before the container leaves.
Alleppey fingers for 5–6 % curcumin where colour strength is paid for; Erode and Salem for 3–4 % general-purpose grinding.
Every lot assayed for lead, cadmium and arsenic by ICP-MS; EU maximum for rhizome spices is 1.5 mg/kg and we report the actual figure.
Microbial reduction by validated steam treatment; ethylene oxide and 2-chloroethanol not detected at 0.02 mg/kg — the EU and UK requirement.
Sudan I–IV, metanil yellow and lead chromate screened on each lot. Pure ground rhizome, nothing else.
Typical specification for ground turmeric; whole fingers, bulbs and cut turmeric are supplied to the same panel.

Regulatory references are provided for planning; the importer of record confirms the requirements for each shipment. Lot-specific test panels are run to the buyer's specification before dispatch.
Most turmeric problems are made before grinding. We control the steps that matter.
Rhizomes boiled, dried to ≤ 10 % moisture and polished; fingers graded by size and colour.
Air, sieve and destoner cleaning; magnetic separation; metal detection at 1.5 mm Fe / 2.0 mm non-Fe.
Validated steam microbial reduction — no ethylene oxide, no irradiation — with a documented log reduction.
Cryogenic or chilled milling to the agreed mesh; nitrogen-flushed multi-wall bags with food-grade liner, 25 kg.
Processed and packed in FDA-registered, GMP-certified facilities running HACCP under ISO 22000. Halal certified; Kosher and organic-certified lots on request. A full Certificate of Analysis travels with every lot, and every pallet traces back to its farm cluster and processing batch.
Documents per shipment: COA, Certificate of Origin, phytosanitary certificate where applicable, health certificate, packing list, and Halal certificate on request.
Where curcumin strength earns its price.
Erode / Salem grade for colour and earthy flavour at 5–20 % of the blend.
Alleppey 5–6 % curcumin delivers more colour per kilo; cleaner label than E100 extracts in some formats.
High-curcumin, low-lead lots with full heavy-metal reports for supplement and beverage brands.
Steam-treated powder with low microbial counts for cold-blended and heat-processed products.
Feed-grade turmeric on request with the same residue panel.
Custom mesh and pack size through co-packers in the US and UK.
Standard export packing; retail and custom mesh through co-packers.
Specify by use. General seasoning and curry blends run well on Erode or Salem type at 3–4 % curcumin. Colouring applications, wellness products and premium retail justify Alleppey type at 5–6 %. Curcumin is assayed by the ASTA 18.0 spectrophotometric method and stated on the COA of every lot.
No. ETO is not permitted for food in the EU or UK, and we do not use it for any market. Microbial reduction is by validated steam treatment, and each lot is tested for ethylene oxide and 2-chloroethanol with a limit of quantification of 0.02 mg/kg.
Lead in turmeric comes from soil, processing and, historically, adulteration with lead chromate. We buy from known farm clusters, polish mechanically, never use colourants, and test every lot by ICP-MS. The EU limit for root and rhizome spices is 1.5 mg/kg; our lots are reported against it.
Yes. Every lot is screened for Sudan I–IV, metanil yellow and lead chromate, and the result is printed on the COA. Pure ground turmeric has no reason to contain any of them.
Yes — whole fingers and bulbs for grinders, cut turmeric, and ground turmeric from 40 to 80 mesh. Cryogenic milling is available where volatile-oil retention matters.
Certificate of Analysis (curcumin, moisture, ash, heavy metals, ETO, Sudan dyes, aflatoxins, microbiology), Certificate of Origin, phytosanitary certificate, the accredited-laboratory ETO and heavy-metal reports, and the Indian Spices Board export documentation. Halal and Kosher certificates on request.
